Sometimes creativity proves challenging.
Which way will you let it express itself?
There are so many ways in which creativity could, for example, write this blog.
Lake Superior
Creativity could write a story from a Goose Point of View. The geese in this pictorial could come forth and tell a winged tale. They could share about traveling south in autumn. They could talk about yesterday’s squawk about leadership in the V-formation. Or they could talk about how we humans might learn from them. The littlest goose might add his voice.
Yep, that’s one creative possibility.
Or this blog could take us back to church–like last Sunday’s Church of the Woods. This Sunday could be “Lake Superior Sermons.” (I suppose the geese could read the daily devotional.) However that might not be too creative, as the idea was already used. It might be cheating.
Reeds
Creativity could write another poem–like yesterday–but I think we’ve had enough spontaneous poetry for a while.
Creativity could talk about my day. What I’m going to be doing. What I did yesterday. (Except, truly, dear reader, I am in a very quiet space. There is nothing much to say about current doings. I gathered stray leaves from against our house and deposited them in the woods. Drove to town to buy some groceries. Watched an old movie: Anna and the King of Siam with Jodie Foster. Yep. Nothing much to say.)
Two geese
Creativity could tell you what I think. About this and that. Where I’m pondering, wondering, not pondering, not wondering. Usually blogs on thoughts and feelings can go on for several hundred words. First you tell one point of view, then another. Then you try to wrap all the points of view into a coherent whole. Or you don’t. Yep, creativity could write a thought & feeling blog.
Or it could write a clever blog. A clever blog surprises the reader (and often the writer who never expects what creativity will do next!) A clever blog takes strange ideas and knits them together into something new.
Sometimes it decides to let the photos express what they want to express, without words. That’s another way creativity shares a blog. It allows the photos to lead the reader down whatever path the reader desires. Creativity displays five photos and turns off the computer. That’s always intriguing!
Sometimes creativity takes a break and writes a rational blog. That is sometimes a teaching type of blog. Or an actual happening type of blog. Or a blog which describes what the community is doing. (In journalistic terms, this kind of blog would be the meat & potato stories of the newspaper. Some of the other kinds of blogs are more like columns or editorials.)
Rocks of the lake
You never know what creativity will do when it sits down to write a blog. You can only hope it will be kind. That it won’t embarrass the typist who must then claim the blog as her own.
What ways have you allowed creativity to rearrange the furniture of your blogs (or life) lately? Does creativity show up at your house every day? How do you make space for it? What has creativity surprised you with lately?
Lake Superior Spirit 
This morning creativity showed up at my house at 6am and pushed an antique bowl filled with pencils and reading glasses off the shelf. Then it said, “There…..one less thing. Doesn’t that look better? Now you, clean up the mess.”
Did you ever notice how creativity makes us do all the work? She’s full of nothing but ideas…….waltzes in, slaps one on you, and then leaves you to put it all together. I say good thing creativity has us to get the job done! 🙂
My goodness creativity was noisy at your house this morning, Sue! Do you think she was trying to tell you that it’s time to start doing pencil drawings? I’m sure she wasn’t just prompting you to clean up the mess. Surely not. She’s a sly one, that creativity. Send me your first pencil drawing in the mail, lol!
LOL I’m pretty sure that creativity was telling me that I need to clear the clutter so she has room to work! I was inspired to start a new beading project after Creativity’s little tantrum. I’ll send you a picture as soon as it’s done! 🙂

Let me see/think/communicate…
Going outside to visit the geese and the stones and the water, somehow wipe out the spin. I was going to say not having spin allows me to create, but someone shouted “THIS IS UNTRUE!!”
“Oh!”
And then I thought that going outside, to my church, allows all of the creative thoughts to move along naturally like wind or water. Making a packing list IS being creative. So is helping my kiddo organize and manage new skills.
Being able to shove aside by purpose, or to allow to wash away naturally like the water or the wind, allows what I call the fun creativity. Thoughts and images and poetry–Ponders, outside of my more functional actions of a day. Many times when these expressions rush forth….they show me about myself and the mundane things and make me laugh or smile or get off of my rear and take care of me!
I guess Creativity is always with me. It can argue with my ideas of how to organize it!
I like these images, if you took them with that new camera–the one I still have a resentment against, I might have to relent. 😛
Oh my goodness, Elisa, you had lots of creative ideas flowing forth in this comment. Creativity knows it can visit you and you’ll spin some ideas together (or backwards).
By the way, you may have to relent. Yes, the geese and reeds and rocks came from the new camera. I still haven’t bought the lens…still borrowing a couple…but the new one is trying hard to do a good job. I am learning to like her.
I love all the pictures especially the flock of geese. The background of the shore looks like a painting. I like Sue’s comment about, “She’s full of nothing but ideas…waltzes in, slaps one on you, and then leaves you to put it all together.” That about sums it up for me too.
Doesn’t that shore background look like a painting? Like Monet or something. Sue is funny…creativity waltzing in and slapping one on us. Can’t you just see her in a poofy yellow dress? (Creativity, I mean…not Sue…)
Creativity is procrastinating by reading blogs at my house.
I have a half-formed idea in my head and am committed to posting today but it may not happen till late this afternoon.
I think I will read a bit first and then make rice pudding.
Hopefully, this will give creativity time to gel!
Gigi, I will scurry on over to your blog and see if Creativity had its way with you. It’s interesting how half-formed ideas can sometimes fully form, and other times dissolve. I hope yours emerged! Rice pudding sounds wonderful. Can you pass some over this way?

Creativity for me this month has been in organzing, cleaning and putting away for winter….it’s comforting to tuck it all away in it’s corner, to walk back and forth to the shed in the crispy leaves, to finish those last few projects before settling in.
Oh, Cindy, I see we’re both going to share some of Gigi’s rice pudding! Don’t you love it when creativity decides to organize and clean and putz? I think she–maybe it’s a he–is making way for new energy. Getting everything straightened up so she can create a little mischief. You think?

Sometimes I like to hide among the reeds or just take peeks out to snoop on what is happening!
I will be as creative as I can be this week to catch up from being in Minnesota last week…Just got in from the 6 hour drive….bushed!
Kim, hiding amidst reeds sounds intriguing tonight. To perhaps glimpse wild animals up close. Perhaps a goose would get so close you could touch its feathers! I would love that.

Bushed myself. We spent the weekend along Lake Huron’s shores…just home now.. no time to do anything much with the probably hundreds of creative photos I gathered. Want to though. Probably need to sleep more. Darn job in the morning you know.
We saw hundreds of Canadian geese in big groups just ofshore on Lake Huron in a couple of different places. Like they were at a big meeting..or a good convention or something. No pictures though.
I am wondering where you wandered along Lake Huron’s shores? My grandparents had a cottage near Harbor Beach and we visited there every summer til I was nine. It is a special place to me… Bet you do want to sleep. How come we have to work anyway? lol! It is a melancholy time with the geese head south… We know what’s coming, don’t we?
We started at Port Huron and drove up and around the thumb, then stayed at AuGres, then got as far north as Harrisville, then drove back along the AuSable river and home. Sigh.
Creativity has so many faces, I think she has multiple personalities. For me, I think she changes her ways – sometimes she expresses herself in the words, sometimes with my photos. Sometimes she leaves me high and dry and then sometimes she surprises me when I least expect her. She is always a friend, it’s just that sometimes she’s trying to teach me to be independent when I’d rather lean on her a little longer.
Carol, I think you’ve described her perfectly. She has multiple personalities! And the way she leaves us high and dry sometimes… guess we’ll learn that independence one of these days, won’t we?
Today, Ms. Creativity watched the hummingbirds, chopped gallons of fresh green parsley and laughed as it scattered everywhere….showers of green, found a hummingbird feather in a red geranium and prompted me, her sometimes resistant (but always constant) friend and companion, to count my many blessings. Hah….and she thought she was going to have a day off 🙂

I think I need to do more but I did recently enjoy the idea of a blog action day where the topic – water – was given to us. It caused me to really think about the topic and decide how I could contribute. I also need to get better about jotting notes down. When I get an idea, i need to capture it immediately. Love your photos as always.

Creativity is overwhelming me lately but I’m not complaining. Winter will be here soon and creativity tends to take a break when this part of the world is blanketed with the hush of snow.

Well I always have something creative going on even if it doesn’t make it to my blog. The last two weeks have had me working with my son on some school projects. He had to make a Volcano for geography and a scale model of a room with furniture for math. In other creative ventures, I signed up for NaNoWriMo. We’ll see how that works out LOL

Jessica, you signed up for NaNoWriMo! Good for you! Have you ever done it before? I did it last year…it was wonderful. It was so inspiring to start and finish a novel. Really haven’t done anything with it…it would need lots of editing to get it in finished form…but it was a valuable writing venture.
