Magic 8-Ball, Magic 8-Ball–what do you think?

Decisions, decisions

Excuse the buttery popcorn fingers on the keyboard.

Crunch, crunch.

I meant to wait until Movie Hour to pop the Organic Popcorn.  Movie hour is imminent.  I have two DVDs ready to watch:  Last Song and Princess Ka’Iulani.

But a blog must be written first!

I’ve been confused all day about what to write.  (That’s what happens when you have too much time to think.)  My queue of photos don’t quite match the queue of thoughts.  This doesn’t usually happen.  Usually the photos and the words dance together.  Tonight we’ll just ford ahead with a sticky popcorn-y keyboard.

Pardon me.  Must refill the bowl.

Crunch, crunch.

Things aren't always what they seem...

(The problem, dear reader, is that I am so excited about next week’s trip to Florida that I can’t concentrate on Life in the Upper Peninsula.  I am restless!  I am ready to hop on that plane!  I am ready to hug my mom and dad.  Ready to walk the sandy beaches.  Ready to…)

Never mind.  Let’s try to live in the Now.  Let’s try to enjoy the popcorn and movies.  Let’s enjoy the blog writing!

Let’s consult the Magic 8-Ball on what to do during the next few days to Live Life to Its Fullest!

You have to ask a “Yes” or “No” question and shake the black ball and an answer appears in the bottom triangle.

Kathy:  “Magic 8-Ball, should I watch the movie Last Song first?”

Eight Ball:  “Cannot predict now.”

Hmmm.

“Should I clean the keyboard after eating this bowl of popcorn?”

Answer:  “It is decidedly so.”

When I watch TV this is usually what it looks like.

Speaking of decisions, I’ll bet some of you are wondering HOW I choose the monthly guest blogger.  You know, I’m sure, that there are at least 20-30 readers/commenters who will make lovely contributors.

How to choose?

I just don’t want you to be blaming me.  Blame the Eight Ball.  The Magic 8-Ball decides.

“Should Karma be the guest blogger this month?”

Eight ball:  “Outlook good.”

Should so-and-so be the guest blogger?

My reply is no.”

So you can see it’s very simple.  If you want to be a guest blogger, talk to your Magic 8-Ball.  Get your Eight Ball to communicate with my Eight Ball.  It WILL happen when the Universal Signs line up.  It will.

Just don’t be blaming me or thinking I don’t love you.

Crunch, crunch.

We can only hope we fit into our shorts and bathing suit after all this mindless popcorn munching.

Less than forty-eight hours to go, dear reader.  Are you ready for palm trees?  Are you ready for 85 degree temperatures?  Are you ready for egrets and pelicans?

Stay tuned!  (Excuse me now, must sign off.  This keyboard is atrociously buttery!  And I have decided to watch the Hawaiian Princess movie first.  Until later…)

“Magic 8- Ball, should I finish this blog now?”

“You may rely on it.”

Be sure to pack some warm things too as our temps have been in the 50’s the past several days in Florida. Have a nice vacation! It’s still beautiful! Susan

    • Kathy says:

Susan, that’s what my mom and dad said! However, I did look at the long-term forecast (after Tuesday) and it says in the 80’s. Hoping so! You aren’t in the Fort Myers Beach area are you??

  2. Susan D says:

You’re hilarious!! Started busting a gut at the beginning … the picture of the fish, who do, indeed, look contemplative! Then the “crunch, crunch” transitional comments. LOL … and almost being able to feel the buttery keyboard. Was eating a handful of trail mix as I was reading and stopped when I almost choked on some raisins. Love your silliness so… I must say that is one wise 8-ball, with a pinch of sarcasm thrown in … Thanks for a delightful Sunday evening read. Enjoy your movies 😀

    • Kathy says:

Taking a break from the movie–one half hour into it–seems pretty good so far. I think. Can’t tell yet. I am SO glad you enjoyed this. I am so amused when these silly blogs write themselves. And then the next thing you know a wise blog writes itself. And then who knows what next? I am glad you didn’t choke on the raisins. But, hey, where was the sarcasm? I missed that!

  3. Sue says:

OMG! Now you’ve got me laughing! I didn’t know that you consulted the ol’ Magic 8 Ball!! I checked out your link and found a Magic 9 Ball, so I thought I’d give it a try. Here’s the results.

    Question: Will I get married?
(now you know Kathy that Russ and I will forever live in sin)
Answer: “That is a horrible question!”
    hahahahahahahha

I know that you’re gonna have a really great time on your vacation to the south, so just forget the “NOW” and dream of all that sand and sun while you pack. Looking forward to the pictures when you get there!

    • Kathy says:

A Magic 9 Ball? There is such a thing? Really? And there you went asking a horrible question first thing! lol…

(I have officially decided that dreaming of Florida is in the Now. And the imaginary 8 Ball says so too!)

  4. barb says:

So – now you admit to having an Eight Ball to help write the blog. You have never credited this Eight Ball before, Kathy…Also, have you shared some buttery treat with the Ball because you sure aren’t sharing with any of us (and I just looked – there is no popcorn left in my pantry). I’m feeling a little left out – both Eight Ball and popcorn wise.

    • Kathy says:

I will admit to just about anything, Barb. The I-Ching helps me write this blog! Confuscious helps me write this blog! (I’m sure you know all about that. We bloggers need all the help we can get.) However, I am sorry you’re out of popcorn. How rude of me! Shall I send some to Colorado?

  5. Robin says:

LOL! Wonderfully done. 🙂 I usually consult my Tarot cards but I think the Magic Eight Ball is much more concise.

Have a wonderful and wonder-filled time in Florida! In our oddly and slightly askew parallel universes, I’ll be on the other coast, enjoying the palm trees and sunny weather while my toes wiggle in the sand and I ponder the life of a surfer dude or dudette.

    • Kathy says:

It’s much more fun to keep flipping off the movie–putting it on “pause”–and running over here to respond to you guys. Unless it gets really good. Then you all will have to wait! Tarot cards! I never once thought of them… yes, will have to consult the Tarot cards next.

Thanks for your well-wishes. You say hello to my son, will you? Just go into Balboa Park and shout “Hello Christopher!” I’m sure he’ll hear you.

      • Kathy says:

I mean…the Eight Ball said he would hear you. lol!

        • Robin says:

Another coincidence! How cool is that? My husband was just saying that we should go to Balboa Park this time. We’ve been to San Diego several times and haven’t been to Balboa Park yet even though it’s been on our list and we’ve been near there. I will be sure to give a shout out for Christopher, a name that I’ll have no trouble remembering since my oldest son’s name is Christopher (he is the one who has gifted us with the two granddaughters we spent time with this weekend).

Any chance you’re heard of the Big Kitchen? I won’t be surprised if you have…

  6. P.j. grath says:

Did you ask the Magic 8 ball about the weather in Florida? I can imagine how excited you must be about the trip, and yes, I look forward to palm trees. It will be weeks and weeks before I see them for myself, but right now Michigan is looking and feeling super-good to me. (Probably because I don’t have plane tickets!) Bon voyage!

    • Kathy says:

Darn, Pamela, I forgot to ask that question. I know it will be really warm in Florida because last time it was a little chilly. The law of Karma–not our blogger Karma–says it will be Hot in Florida this trip. You enjoy your months here in Michigan. There is a law which says you cannot get excited about your upcoming trip until three days before! (You did know about that law, didn’t you?)

  7. Carol says:

Yes, I am ready for walks on sandy beaches. But then, I’m always ready for walks on sandy beaches.

Avoid buttery keyboard by profuse licking of buttery fingers. Or hold you hands down and let the dogs do it. That works too.

    • Kathy says:

Darn, Carol, we don’t have any dogs available for finger-licking! Not a single pet left… And let’s not include stray mice in this plan. lol!

  8. Kathy says:

Robin, I’ve run out of “reply” spaces under our previous conversation. It is destined that you go to Balboa Park. The 8 ball says so. So does the Queen of Pentacles. There is a cool cactus garden in there, if you like cactuses.

Have not heard of Big Kitchen. We are not 100% in synch–yet!

  9. I think I remember having a Magic 8 ball once. But, I can’t remember what I actually did with it. I do remember playing with the ouija board though. I watched the Last Song and ate popcorn two nights ago. I’ll be interested to hear your comments about it. Let me know what you thought.

    • Kathy says:

Yes, this morning I asked the Ouija board…shall I write another blog? and the Ouija board said, “You will marry someone named Ben.” OK, OK, I’ve confused half a century or more. Years ago I asked the Ouija board who I would marry. And it said BEN! I have always wondered where Ben was. And what Barry is going to say when Ben shows up…

I will try to remember to let you know about the Last Song. No more popcorn tonight though. If I can control myself.

  10. Karma says:

Hee, hee – it is good to know that I am not the only one who talks to inanimate objects!
Have a wonderful time in Florida – my local weather people are calling for a high of 39 degrees tomorrow and a chance of snow! AUGH!
By the way, if you comment from your dashboard when you click “view all” you can reply to any comments as many times as you’d like.

    • Kathy says:

Karen, I ADORE talking to inanimate objects. (And they talk back!!) People say this is crazy behavior, but I think it is utterly sensible. Unless you completely believe what you or the objects say, that is.

Thank you for your comment advice. Gosh, I learn so much from you!

  11. slamdunk says:

I hope you have a nice time in Florida.

    • Kathy says:

Thank you, Slamdunk. Twenty five hours and counting… But that’s just until take-off. Which is OK. All my restlessness will dissolve tomorrow morning. Heck, it’s almost dissolved today. Please stop by and see Florida photos!

  12. Dawn says:

There was a magic 8 ball on my Dad’s desk at home when I was growing up. Come to think of it, he may have used it to make family decision! With four of us under 5 he probably needed all the help he could get!

Have a wonderful time in Florida, enjoy your parents and the sandy beaches!

    • Kathy says:

Dawn, I am sure your dad consulted the 8 ball regularly. That is probably why you turned out the way you did! All benefit goes to the Magic Eight ball! Smiling…I will enjoy Florida. It’s going to be Mom’s 78th birthday.

  13. holessence says:

Kathy – I can just see you doing the Snoopy Happy Dance around the house in anticipation of F-L-O-R-I-D-A. Whoohoo!

  14. Jeff Stroud says:

Too too funny! You will do anything to write! Good for you!

  15. LOL
    I Love Snoopy Dance

    • Kathy says:

Kim–snoopy dancing with you! Hope it’s warm wherever you are. It’s unbelievably warm here this afternoon. We all should be outside. It’s like in the 50’s or 60’s. It’s incredible. Who needs to go to Florida anyway? (I DIDN’T SAY THAT!)

  16. CD says:

decisions decisions fish made my morning!

    • Kathy says:

Chris, you liking decisions decision fish made MY morning! This was taken by the little bitty old camera a couple months ago. I am so thrilled you loved the lake trout. Come home sometime next year and your dad will take you fishing.

  17. Cindy Lou says:

A bit ADHD today, dear? Cracking up at all of you crazy people?!?

    • Kathy says:

A bit ADHD? Yep, I’ll admit it. Especially yesterday. Today–nah–not so much. Now that I know the Big Day is almost here, calmness is re-settling. But it was fun to crack up, wasn’t it?
