Pure summer peace.
What else to do but chew grass and watch the lady in the kitchen window busily washing dishes?
Maybe the deer will practice yoga.
The first view could possibly be Corpse Pose.
Peaceful weekend, everyone, from our Little House in the Big Woods.
P.S. The dish-washer just went outside to see if she could get some more pics of the peaceful yoga-doe. Guess what? After a lazy five minutes the deer stood up and peacefully stretched. I think this second pose is the Cat-Cow position, don’t you? Cute, huh?
P.S.S. Barry says to tell you this is “his” tame deer. He says her name is “Doe-head” and he talks to her every day.
Watching her watching you! What better way could there be to spend an afternoon? Torrential rains here in Florida all day so your little house in the woods seems like the perfect place to be. Lovely weekend back at you Kathy!
Susan, may your rains dissolve! May deer wander near your house and lay down in your yard. May your temperatures cool. May life bless you this July weekend.
I love it!
Me, too! I hope you saw the yoga-deer, John. I turned this blog topsy-turvey since publishing it. It started with Peace as a title and turned into Deer Yoga. Go figure.
Its funny how we personify animals (Our Doe is named “Doo-Doo”) Once when I used the name in front of one of our old neighbor’s friend, he said “Oh you don’t hunt deer”. I was a little startled and told him only with a Nikon, then asked him how he knew. He replied that no hunter personifies what he hunts, no farmer names his chickens. So the dangling question is does Barry hunt deer? (This is the first time I’ve ever tested whether this is wisdom or folly)
Oh, I almost forgot to reply to this question, John. No, Barry doesn’t hunt. He tried to hunt with his friend and co-worker Nancy Besonen a few years ago. He didn’t even see a buck and ended up with severe allergies from Nancy’s dog. That was his last hunting expedition! Now fishing is a different story, as you know. And, no, he doesn’t name his fish. lol!
Nope, not expecting a reply … Nancy Besonen is someone that is on my list of people to meet some day, not quite as high as you and Barry, but I think she is a very talented writer and may be living proof that someone from down here can successfully make the migration to Baraga county.
Super Sweet. Amazing shots ❤
Simple shots, Susan D. Especially since it was Barry’s tame deer. It seemed to have no inclination to run away. (I am still not at peace, though, as our phone isn’t working well and the weekend is approaching and the repair-folks might not have time to fix it before they relax like the deer.)
Kathy – Please tell Barry that his pet deer, Doe-Head, is beautiful!
I always wonder how he knows which doe is “his”, Laurie. He says he knows this is his because it’s tamed. But what if we have more than one tame doe?
Kathy, if you did not have an audience of readers, all these observations would go unshared. Instead many see life in the Big Woods, through your eyes and your heart.
Jane, that is reason enough to continue posting! Otherwise, the yoga deer would never become famous. smile. Thank you.
Oh, she is so lovely and sweet! I love her eyes… How wonderful this doe has blessed you with her presence… But “Doe-head”? Wish Barry would pick a different name for her!!!
Shhh…Barbara…I have to watch it…he reads these comments. But I would never call a deer “Doe Head”. Never in a thousand years. But he says it so enthusiastically.
Yes, but does she stay out of the garden? My mama deer, aside from scaring us back into the house at night has eaten most everything in our gardens. But we still love her. Yesterday the baby was out in the back yard, our first sighting, though we knew he was somewhere…he was quite a ways away from mama…silly boy (or girl). Katie didn’t bark at him…I guess he’s not as threatening as the big mama.
Oh, Dawn, we know your garden woes. Now we have a nice high electric fence around the garden. Otherwise the Yoga Deer would eat every last tasty morsel. We can’t be having that. One year they even ate the tomatoe STALKS. Desperate deer. Desperate humans put up fence.
Fantastic pictures. I love these beautiful creatures. Unfortunately, around here, they are considered orchard pests because of the damage they do to trees. They eat the new tender shoots, and set back the branch a years growth. To me, however they are one of the most precious animals in our area. The last deer I saw, was lying in front of our barn, having been killed by a car. That is so sad.
Bonnie, glad you like the deer, too. It’s funny, here in the woods, you never really notice damage done to trees. Probably because there are so many trees. I am sorry the last deer you saw was dead. It’s hard when there are so many of them trying to share a small area with humans.
Beautifully peaceful!
It was a beautiful peaceful afternoon, Jeff. yawn. Kinda like today…
Cat-cow position (lol), that’s so funny Kathy! Very cute photos! Barry’s sense of humor is funny also.
Thanks, Marianne. I guess it’s pretty bad when the deer has to inspire you to do your yoga. LOL!
Ha ha deer doing cat pose! I love the name Barry gave her 🙂
I’ll tell him you like his name, dancingantelope!
She’s so beautiful. Yoga-doe. I like that. 🙂
I love her, Robin. Inspiration for us…
Thanks for showing us your calm visitor today…she looks so peaceful and comfortable. Maybe it’s because of Barry’s tender attention to her. A little attention goes a long way, even with people.
Hi Brenda~~I think I was still replying to comments back here in early July, so I shall give you my full commenting attention! You are so right. Attention is the gift we can give others. It is the sweetest gift of all.
