Welcome to the 35th Annual Aura Jamboree

People play outside under large tents or participate in workshops (this lady is playing the hammer dulcimer)

Or perform inside the Aura Hall. Each group of musicians plays for fifteen minutes. The music reverberates from Friday evening through midnight Saturday night.

There are more fiddlers than you can shake a stick at. (Ha ha, pun intended!)

Musicians admiring other musicians

Folks stretched out on the grass

Barefoot, even

Playin' it good now...

Kids playin' too

Or standing in line to buy snacks

Play your hearts out

And come back again next year, won't you?

About Kathy
I live in the middle of the woods in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. Next to Lake Superior's cold shores. I love to blog.
Love the black and white! Wonderful photos all…
Ahh… it looks like fun. I liked the black and white pics for a change. Funny how the world looks different in black and white.
Great photography, Kathy. I LOVE the little girl in the polka dot dress.
Loved the way you did this in black & white. It looks like lots of fun. Reminds me of going to Harpers Ferry, West Virginia for the dulcimer festival. 🙂
How fun….great photos!!!
YEEEEEEEEEEEEE HAAAAAAAWWWWWWW!!!
“Ain’t that America” ~ Mellencamp. These pictures are real artistry.
“Barefoot, even” — How cool is it that her haircut embraces both the long and short of it!
Fabulous B&W photos Kathy. Love them! Wish I were there…looks like my kind of fun.
Yes, very awesome photos that capture a lot!
I hate to miss ANY hammered duclimer playing or accordion playing. I’m BIIIIIIG on those!!!!
Thank you for sharing about this festival !!!
Love, OM
This must have been such wild fun, Kathy! Intrigued by the use of black and white photos – it feels like it completely shifted the focus. Normally, one’s eyes are so distracted by colours, so when you use monochrome, it calls attention to shadow and light, dark and bright, facial expressions and textures. I like the effect here.
Very photojournalistic of you. Barry must be proud.
Wonderful character portraits in B & W, Kathy – really set a fiddling mood.
Liking this a lot!!
How fun!! LOVE the polka-dot dress on the little girl!! 🙂
I love the use of black and white in this set! The little girl in the polka dot dress is a sweet picture. I can faintly hear the musical notes dancing across this blog., my toes are a tappin’! 🙂
