Oh look! A blog reader/friend sent a gift--a lovely package of handmade cards!

What a cool idea~~it's a round piece of birchbark for a turtle's body glued on the notecard.

Thank you, Fountainpen. Your gift is so much appreciated! Blog readers, what was the last unexpected gift YOU received in the mail?

About Kathy
I live in the middle of the woods in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. Next to Lake Superior's cold shores. I love to blog.
I received hand made cards too, from a blogger friend…isn’t it wonderful what the blogger world has produced? Pen pals from all over who really CARE!
That is so sweet! The cards turned out really beautiful, too.
The last unexpected gift I received was a camera charm from my best friend in Germany. She included it in the package for Sara’s birthday. It was a HUGE surprise 🙂
I don’t get mail. Unless it’s college stuffs for kiddos and one bill that isn’t paperless yet.
What COOL handmade note cards! That was an extremely thoughtful gift. I recently received 2 boxes of Panda raspberry licorice in the mail from my friend Terrill Welch up in Mayne Island, Canada 🙂
Gerry over at Torch Lake had a post about “real mail” and how nice it is to receive a few months ago, so I sent her a sketch I drew of Miss Sadie and the Cowboy. In turn, she sent me a note written on a “Babs Original” and some postcards from a studio in Benzie county.
Nice work and clever use of birch bark. 🙂
I received a T-shirt from a Blogger chum and I sent another, Thrills gum.
Beautiful gift. 🙂
It’s been a while… I can’t think of anything. Seems like nobody uses snail mail much anymore.
Oh I love that – birch bark for a shell. The last surprise I received in the mail was a beautiful card with a lovely handwritten sentiment inside. It was unexpected and happily received 🙂
The first thought that went through my mind on reading this, was the amazing timing of your blogging about birchbark. Why ? Because I just posted yesterday in Tribal Ways at A New Gaia, about the passing of William Commanda, the Algonquin elder/environmentalist and, also a craftsman in birchbark – in his regard, of canoes.
Anyway, knowing a tiny bit about your heartfelt interests, I can understand the preciousness of this gift linking the natural world and one of your readers to your touch.
Kathy you are so blessed to have such wonderful, thoughtful friends! The turtle note card is so cute! And so very clever! Hmm…the last unexpected gift I received in the mail?…can’t say I’ve received anything unexpected for several years…a few not so pleasant things have arrived unexpectedly though 😦 but I managed just fine. I hope you’re doing well in the northwoods..I just got back from my sister’s..was a good visit except for her car accident. She’s ok but the car is not..they need a new car 😦
What a lovely creative idea for a handmade card – really pretty! You are definitely blessed with wonderful friends, Kathy!
Very cute! I love how crafty your friend is!
