Goodbye, Autumn Leaf.
You’re falling from that tree, aren’t you, rushing toward the earth in early October?
I’m falling from my familiar Lake Superior tree, too.
I am leaving the Blogging World for a spell.
I am going to–perhaps–play croquet, stare at polar bears, wear aubergine, eat Kimchi, hug my beloved Mom and Dad, kiss Korean babies, photograph seals, give a speech, swim in a pool, sip cocktails, tease my daughter’s boyfriend, delight in my brothers, giggle with my niece, laugh out loud with my sister-in-law, roll my eyes at my favorite brother-in-law, eat veggie burgers on the grill, tour a Farmer’s Market, and maybe six million other small sacred delights but, especially–
–I will cry because our oldest son and his bride are celebrating their marriage in San Diego and there isn’t anything more wonderful than that, is there?
I will not be on-line for a while, not reading your blogs, not responding to comments, hardly even checking email–if you can believe that! I am not even bringing Miss Ellie, the laptop computer, on this special amazing trip. (She is already pouting. She has not been left at home–ever–since she was a wee computer baby.)
Dear friends, we shall meet again at a later date, we shall. We shall catch up and I shall show you wedding photos. I am at least 83.4% certain you shall see wedding photos. You will never forgive me otherwise, will you?
Until we meet again...goodbye!
Oh, dearest Kathy, I’m not sure whether I should ‘Like’ this post or not… But I do love that you will be doing all those marvelous things with your loved ones. So, stay safe, have a wonderful, exciting, joyful time – and a safe (and adventurous!) trip away and back home again. We’ll meet again in the blogosphere sometime, I am certain of that! Lots of love and hugs!
My first response at merely reading the one-word title of this blog entry was utter panic! I’m glad now that I am just glad you are going to have a lovely trip — and break from cyberspace — for a lovely reason, and that you WILL be back among those of us HERE who love you!
Have a GREAT time, and yes, pics are anticipated!!!
Have a lovely trip and best wishes for the bride and groom!
Have a wonderful trip and shed a tear for me, too (I always cry at weddings) 🙂
Funny that you named your computer. My friend Kathy also names things like her car (Zippy) and her sewing dummy (Antoinette)! lol
Best Wishes for a safe and joyous trip!
Somehow I am reminded of “Fiddler on the Roof”. Safe travels. For the bride and groom remind them that a smile/laughter can make all problems seem small.
My gravatar is still lost somewhere.
it is not goodbye–it is see you later – have the best time ever–and yes we want to see pictures of all your adventures – have fun – will miss you but look forward to all the news when you get back 🙂 (hugs)
Enjoy your reprieve, and good for you! Lots of love and hugs.
At least 6 million things to enjoy! Have a safe trip, enjoy yourself, be present – even if Miss Ellie gets her electron-feelings hurt 😉
Have a wonderful time, Kathy! A child’s wedding is a once-in-a-lifetime occasion (for each child) and I hope you will savor every last moment of joy to be had in being there to witness and give your blessing to the union!
Have a great time. I’ll miss you.
Kathy, I will miss you, as will many others here, but we will all be here, waiting to hear all of the stories you bring home with you (yes, there will be stories, or it wouldn’t be “our” Kathy!) Have a safe trip, enjoy the hugs and laughter, and more than anything, share this wonderful time with Christopher, uninterrupted. I’ll be thinking of you and sending blessings for a happy life to your son and his new bride. xxx
Ahh, and a wedding between two joyful, loving people is the ultimate sacred delight. Enjoy every single second.
This is not farewell (although please do fare well, Kathy) but only “until we meet again!” Have a wonderful time away. It’s good to get away for a while.
Have a sweet time, Kathy! I’ll be thinking of you all.
Have a wonderful time *hugs*
Dearest Kathy…you know from past experience that it is good for the soul to once in awhile break away. Do not worry honey…we will be here anxiously awaiting your return ♥. I’m so ELATED for you hope you have a wonderful holiday , yet sadden for I have not kept up with your blog (I’ll be honest, and a few others I haven’t been keeping up to date with, so don’t feel bad.) I shall comment when you and I meet up again on this blog :).

Congratulations to the happy couple. I gather they survived the trip to LAX on the Carmaggon weekend.
I’m glad to hear you’re leaving your computer behind. It’s so important to just enjoy the wedding and forget about everything else.
My goodness Kathy just reading through all these comments you have such a loving supportive family out here too!
Have fun Kathy and family. Have a joyous wedding…enjoy your family and new expanded family. Tickle babies, eat great food, explore, take photos…and yes we will find you if we don’t get to see the wedding photos! 🙂
Hope you enjoyed your time away from this virtually intangible world, Kathy (I am assuming you’re reading this after you’ve eaten kimchi, laughed, teased, cried…) How lovely to be able to do all of that in one vacation!
Off to check out ‘wear aubergine’.
If ever there was a fabulous reason for being away, this is it…
ENJOY the break, have LOTS of fun at the festivities, Celebrate to the full as you spend time with loved ones on one of the most important days of their lives.
We WILL wait patiently…. and look forward to photos upon your return.

What?! You’re leaving when I just started reading your blog?!! JK Have a wonderful time at your wedding and a nice little break from blogdom.
I decided to like this post because everyone, especially you, deserves to live a little of this life so that you can blog about it later. Have a great time. Wish that happy couple a long and happy life together for all of us here in blogland.
I hope you’re having a magical and wonder-filled adventure, Kathy. Congratulations to the new bride and groom! 🙂
I can’t wait to see these wedding photos! Cherish every moment.
Enjoy the wedding. Weddings are much better than blogging anyway.
Congratulations to the family. Should you drive through AZ on your way to the wedding, let me know. I think it is a well deserved break from blogging!
Enjoy your hiatus, my friend. It is a lovely time of year to do so. Oh, and do not forget to photograph those polar bears for me!
All those beautiful fall colors, and here everything is still very green.
LOVE the last photo!
Enjoy your time off, and enjoy your son’s wedding even more 🙂 Looking forward to your return!
Dear friends, Thank you SO much for all your well-wishes! The wedding was wonderful and I hope to share the details soon. We are back home in the U.P. by the shores of Lake Superior after gazing westward onto the Pacific Ocean in San Diego for a week. Unfortunately, I have to catch up at work and attend two meetings before that will happen. Will try to write a blog as soon as possible! Love, Kathy
Enjoy, looking forwards to hearing all about it.
me2013, thanks for visiting, and I’m starting to tell the story now!
Lake Superior land colors looks like it could be a painting. Wonderful photo indeed, Kathy.
I feel like I should say “Hello” now instead of “Goodbye”! 🙂
