Shhh…let’s pause here for a moment of silence.
Breathe deeply, all the way down to that soft belly of yours.
Feel your seat on this chair, this couch, this floor.
Ahh, those sturdy feet.
Again breathe, so natural, so steadfast.
Do you sense the silence all around?
I re-member the Holy best in this sacred silence. This silence of no-thing. This silence made of stars and moon and dawning sun.
It feels sometimes that I forget the Holy Heart in the clacking chattering chirping fussing of daily thoughts and habits and emotions and activities. (Even though the Holy shines beyond forgetting and remembering.)
But here–right here–it’s possible to lie down in a basket of silence.
To watch all the thoughts and feelings arise, but they’re not the main show.
The silence is the infinite embrace.
Presence–this present moment–rises in a peace that passeth all understanding.
Breathe, my brothers and sisters.
We’re being breathed by the same force that keeps the planets spinning in a Holy orbit.
This silence pulses so huge with life and love and donuts and songs and sneezes and internet and clouds and sunlight and you, oh you, silent reader.
May we open our hands to silence today–if we’re called by sweet silence herself–and allow her to play her vibrating lute. Calling us home, calling us home, calling us home to our truest self.
And the world arises anew in the silence, doesn’t it? All of the noisy clamouring challenging beautiful world–but with the embrace of the golden hush. Yes, the embrace of the golden hush.
Day 21 of a seventy-five day journey to connect more deeply with God, Spirit, Holy, Love…to explore “What the Heart Knows” during the waning days of 2020.
