Merry Christmas from our snowy Little House in the Big Woods to yours!

Little Christmas trees in the north woods

Merry Christmas, dear readers, from our snowy Little House in the Big Woods in Aura, Upper Peninsula, Michigan, just a dozen owl hoots from the nearest four-way stop.

I wish you the happiest of holidays.  May you enjoy this season of celebration as we surpass the darkest days of the year.

May 2014 bring you peace, joy and understanding.

I have so appreciated another year of blogging with all of you.  You’ve all helped my life shine brighter than a star atop a Christmas tree.

Will be taking a blogging break now–and shall see you sometime after the New Year decks the halls with boughs of holly.

Many blessings!  Hope you enjoy looking at all the snowy pictures, including a few oldies but goodies of my little ones when they still frolicked in the snow at our Little House in the Big Woods.

Love, Kathy

  40. I enjoyed your U.P. pictures. I too live in Michigan’s Winter Wonderland. I am in the Upper Peninsula on Lake Superior east of Sault Ste Marie and just a little past the beautiful Pte Iroquois Lighthouse. My daughter recently posted on my Facebook page a four generation picture of us taken at the lighthouse with Santa this year. Last year we finally had a traditional year for snowfall after 5 years of El Nino effect mild winter weather. We had so much snow and ice last year that we were unable to shovel it off the roofs. My garage collapsed on the first day of spring! This year the snow started early and we have already had about 8-10 plow jobs done for us by Christmas 2013. We love curling up by the fireplace as we look at the beautiful snow-scape outside our windows. It is nice to get away during the dark days of winter for a break around February. It is when snow becomes a dirty four-letter word and spring can’t come soon enough! But, for now we love it! Have a good new year.
